14th October — Once the home of seven farming families Dowthwaite Head rests quietly by in the upper Aira Beck valley, seldom appreciated by walkers and almost never by the general tourist. Recently sold, its future hopefully secured to sustain the traditional pastoral setting and nurture the valley as a haven for wildlife.

A conversation with Kathleeen Jones, author of A Passionate Sisterhood. Though almost everyone has heard of Wordsworth, Coleridge and Southey, it is through Kathleen’s book that the story of the women who lived in harmony with them is brought into focus.
This episode is a wonderfully entertaining conversation I had with the living legend Joss Naylor, the greatest advert for healthy exercise on the wild and beautiful fells of the Lake District. Also with us was Viv Crow, who has co-authored with Joss his revisit of a classic 1983 outing.
