Looking west from Helvellyn
Birkhouse Moor
November 28th – Spotted last Monday a valuable off beat way to the summit of Birkhouse Moor branching from the regular Mires Beck path above the sheepfold. You can see two walkers descending from the eastern brink of the fell evading bracken and outcropping (see below).
Catstycam linescape
27th November – enjoyed creating this drawing today of Catstycam a startling component of the Helvellyn massif, I climbed this on Monday by the right-hand edge, the fell’s north-west ridge.
Duke of Portland boathouse
November 24th – Travellers coming off the M6 from Penrith by Rheged arrive at Waterfoot and are greeted by this stunning scene. It was sheer magic at 9.20am on Monday calm, serene, all its autumn loveliness brilliantly on display.
Catstycam
Took the fabulous weather window to climb Catstycam from Glenridding. Ascending direct from the breached dam by the north-west ridge, a seldom trod steep pull with a tremendous culmination bang on the summit.
